Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal. ERC GRANT ERC Advanced Grant. The ERC Advanced Grant is part of the European Research Councils (ERC). The ERC grants are highly competitive and an outstanding track record is an important factor of success. As well as the research carried out by the researcher, it is an ambitious program aiming to recognise the best ideas and talents.

This does not apply to ongoing projects.

The Principal Investigators should be exceptional leaders in terms of originality and significance of their research contributions. 185 scientists win European Research Council’s Advanced Grants The 185 winners of the ERC’s annual Advanced Grants competition were announced today. They will explore their most daring and innovative ideas proposed in response to last year’s call. ERC Advanced Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal. With her newly-awarded ERC Advanced Grant, Dr. Silke Robatzek plans to study the multi-host infection strategy of the bacterium. This includes how it tricks the plant hosts’ immune system, as well as its strategies to live in the plant’s xylem - dead cells transporting water.

ERC Advanced Grant ERC AdG Principal Investigators are expected to be active researchers and to have a track record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years which must be presented in the application. Size of ERC Advanced Grants Advanced Grants may be awarded up to a maximum of EUR 2 500 000 for a period of 5 years. The maximum award is reduced pro rata temporis for projects of a shorter duration.
